Using Optimize packs
Apply the best hand-picked tweaks for a goal in one click, after reviewing every change.
Packs are the quickest safe start. Each one groups hand-picked Recommended tweaks by goal.
| Pack | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gaming performance | Game Mode on, background game capture off, snappier menus and visual effects, raw mouse input, full processor speed, less background work. |
| Network & latency | Keeps the network adapter awake, stops sharing Windows updates with other PCs, restores normal TCP auto-tuning. |
| Privacy | Advertising ID, tailored experiences, activity history, extra diagnostics and app telemetry turned off. |
| Security hardening | AutoRun off, the old SMBv1 server off, Remote Assistance off, file extensions always visible. |
| Debloat | Suggestions and ads in Start, Settings and the lock screen, promoted apps, web results in search, Copilot, Recall and Widgets turned off. |
| Reliability & storage | Full shutdowns, no maintenance wake-ups, TRIM on, USB devices kept awake, End task in the taskbar. |
The full list of tweaks in each pack is on the Optimize page.
What can be in a pack
- Only tweaks hand-picked as Recommended.
- Only Safe tweaks with Strong or Moderate evidence.
- Never a tweak that changes a Windows service, and never a Caution or Experimental tweak.
- Never anything that weakens a security feature.
Tweaks that don't apply to your PC (for example a Pro-only policy on Windows Home, or a browser you don't have) are left out automatically and counted as not applicable.
Apply a pack
- Open Optimize.
- Select What's included on a pack to see its tweaks and their state on this PC.
- Select Apply on the pack, or Optimize everything for all six.
- The review screen opens. Untick anything you don't want, then apply.
Undo a pack
Every tweak a pack applied is listed in Restore Center, grouped together. Restore the group to undo the whole pack, or restore single tweaks.
